Current Movements Film Festival 2019

The Current Movements Film Festival was created to connect a wider audience to documentary films, and to what is happening in social movements today. This festival will showcase voices throughout the activist community worldwide while also connecting activists and their stories to one another.

This 6-day event will not only highlight stories of social change, but will also bring together artists, activists, filmmakers, and collectives who are building a future in which we want to live.

Each day documentaries will be the starting point to talk about the issues facing real people, and communities. We will hear the voices of global activists doing the work day-in and day-out to make a difference. We want this form of multi-layered storytelling to engage attendants into getting involved in movements by understanding the issues (and seeing them as complex), seeing they have a role to play, and learning how they can meaningfully take part. In the process, we also hope to bring folks in movement together to build relationships and find new ways to come together.
